Motion Tracking

To make the text motion track the action in the clip that we filmed, we used Adobe After Effects. The first step was to import the chosen clip into the programme and then insert a new layer, called "Null object". On the right hand side there is a motion tracking bar which allows you to select the layer which you want to motion track. Using the tracking box we clicked on the part of the clip that we want the text to follow. We played this through to check that it would follow the correct object. Using the text tool we wrote a label. Using the spiral button on the bottom left corner next to "text" we dragged a line from it to the "null object" layer. We forward analysed the clip to check the  sequence then saved and exported it.

We need to practice using better colour contrasts so that the tracking is more smooth and doesn't get confused. Our next aim is to develop the text into 3D.

BBFC Research.

The BBFC are an unprofitable company. Their job is to regulate the age placed on films as a guide to audiences. On their website (http://www.bbfc.co.uk/about-bbfc/our-mission)  they have stated their aims;
  • To protect audiences, especially children of content which may cause/risk harm
  • Allows to audience to make good viewing choices based on the age, especially parents
  • Provide an efficient classification service
  • Work in partnership with the media industry to give content advice
  • Respond and reflect to any of the public concerns, using research and consultations
The ratings that they choose depend on sexual scenes, violence, swearing and how much of it is included.

Rating U stands for "Universal", this means that in general it should be suitable for all ages above four. There is next to no violence and the bad language will only consist of words like "damn" and "hell".

Rating PG stands for "Parental guidance", this suggests that the content of the film should be suitable for all ages however some of the younger audiences may need parental guidance when watching.

Rating 12 means that there could be mild amounts of violence, swearing and sexual activity. Only ages 12 or up have consent to watch the films unaccompanied.

Rating 15 means that only ages 15 and up can watch unaccompanied at the cinema. In a 15 rated film you can expect frequent violence, bad language, sexual nudity and drugs.

Rating 18 films suggest discriminating and bad language, frequent scenes of sex and nudity, the violence can also be very strong and offensive.
